Our TUBİTAK Project Has Been Approved!

We are pleased to announce that our innovative research project has officially been approved by TÜBİTAK. This milestone marks a significant step forward not only for our organization, but also for the broader industrial ecosystem striving toward sustainable and low-carbon production methods. Our project focuses on the development of Polyester Polyol using Recycled PET and Vegetable Castor Oil, representing a new horizon in the pursuit of circular economy practices.

The chemical and materials industry is currently undergoing a profound transformation. In recent years, the global market has witnessed a growing demand for solutions that combine high performance with environmental responsibility. Traditional petrochemical-based polyols, while widely used in polyurethane production, come with an undeniable environmental cost due to their reliance on fossil fuels and their contribution to greenhouse gas emissions. By contrast, our project offers a path toward green transformation, where innovation, sustainability, and industrial efficiency intersect.

Our primary objective is clear: We aim to develop Polyester Polyol using Recycled PET and Vegetable Castor Oil. We aim to pioneer the green transformation by developing next-generation polyols with a low carbon footprint. By integrating recycled raw materials and renewable resources, we intend to minimize the environmental impact of polyol production while setting a benchmark for other industry players.

The Role of Recycled PET and Castor Oil

Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is one of the most widely used plastics in packaging, particularly in bottles and containers. However, the accumulation of PET waste poses severe challenges to ecosystems worldwide. Transforming this waste into valuable raw materials is no longer an option but a necessity. Our project leverages advanced chemical processes to convert PET waste into polyester polyol, extending the lifecycle of plastic and reducing landfill dependence.

At the same time, the use of vegetable castor oil brings an additional layer of sustainability. Derived from a renewable natural source, castor oil is rich in hydroxyl functionality, making it an ideal component for polyol production. Its integration into our formulation enables us to achieve both performance and eco-compatibility, ensuring that the final product meets industrial standards while aligning with global sustainability goals.

Strategic Impact for the Industry

The approval of our TÜBİTAK project demonstrates the growing recognition of the urgent need for low-carbon, high-value chemical innovations. For the polyurethane and plastics industries, next-generation polyols present opportunities to lower overall carbon footprints without compromising on performance. From automotive applications to construction materials, polyester polyols developed through sustainable methods have the potential to redefine value chains and encourage the adoption of green technologies.

Moreover, our initiative highlights the importance of public-private collaboration in advancing research and development. With TÜBİTAK’s support, we will be able to accelerate our R&D activities, optimize production processes, and scale up innovations from the laboratory to industrial implementation. This partnership exemplifies how national funding and industrial expertise can combine to foster impactful solutions with global relevance.

Looking Ahead

We firmly believe that the successful execution of this project will establish a new benchmark in sustainable chemistry. Our vision extends beyond product development; it aims to reshape how industries perceive raw materials and resource efficiency. By introducing eco-friendly polyester polyols into the market, we hope to inspire both local and international stakeholders to invest further in renewable technologies and embrace the principles of the circular economy.

The road toward sustainability requires determination, collaboration, and continuous innovation. With the approval of this project, we reaffirm our long-standing commitment to responsible growth and our determination to pioneer change in the chemical industry. This is not only a technological achievement but also a statement of purpose: a demonstration that environmentally conscious solutions can—and must—become the new standard.
